... jangan "Menang Sorak Kampung Tergadai" ...

Qatar National Day - 18 December 2010

10 years ago, not many people knows Qatar. That time this country was like isolated from the world map, only few with strong heart will come here, like was nothing to proud off. Yes indeed Qatar was just one little Gulf country with a little oil reserve but huge abandoned Gas reserve. But short after Emir Hamad Khalifa Al Thani became the King and Ruler of Qatar he develope the country massively, and within 25 years of reign, Qatar had became the Richest country (according to GDP per capita) and largest producer of Liquefied Natural Gas in the world. And after winning the rights to host the World Cup 2022, Qatar seems to became famous Gulf Country with glamourous identity.

For information about Qatar please visit Wiki, I always loves wiki ...

Not to be confused with Independent Day.

Now more worker will come to Qatar, for realising the vision to host the next 3 World Cup and to be developed country.

Now people only sees the glamourous Qatar, but not the history. Only by history people can understand this country background and sense of belonging to their second country. (congratulation to Malaysian Team for winning the first ever National Day Quiz)

Anda kenal bendera apa ni?

Ni lah bendera Persekutuan Tanah Melayu 1948 hingga 1963 ...

Daulat Tuanku ...

Qatar won the bid for hosting World Cup 2022

Qatar won the bidding for hosting the 2022 World Cup. The decision made last night by FIFA executive committee at Zurich. That means Qatar will start developing the infrastructure including five new stadiums as promised.
At present there are still not adequate infrastructure to handle the event, but Qatar have lot of money to make it happen.

Before you made a conclusion about this, better to see their presentation to FIFA.

THE WINTER IN QATAR

When I was first arrived here i was surpise that this country has a winter season, I dont know that sometimes in the season, the temperature can get to 10 degrees celcius. That is very cold for me. The winter season starts from November and the temperature gradually decreased until season's peak on January and the season end in March. Rain will pour down during this season, which is estimated around 10 day per year only.

In this season, all the recreational and sports activities was compacted and people have to pick and choose what event they want to. So many interesting event, internationaly, localy or within the community only. This coming 17/11/2010 there will be friendly match between Brazil and Argentina, the tickets sold out and I wasnt have chance to watch. But no problem, there will be next to come, just suit yourself to the condition.

Sepetang di Al Khor dan Dhakira

Kami suka jalan jalan waktu petang sambil makan angin dan bermain.
Kampung kami tak lah semeriah mana tapi kami suka kampung kami.

Disini kami perlu banyak bersabar.

Is it worth to work in Middle East?

Assalamualaikum,

Many of my friend ask me whether Qatar is good for future sake. This popular question, I had no specific answer. But the main point to consider is;

1. The wages are higher compare to Home Country, depends on your position, normally for senior staff the amount are much higher and comfortable. For non-senior staff the amount just a bit higher than 10k mark. Depend on yourself to save for your old age.
2. Challenges are another important things to think of. Working with mostly Indian citizen, upon not very convenience comparing to Malaysian working ethics. Some people frustrated and went home.
3. Middle east was a desert country. No river, no waterfall, no jungle to catch birds and so on. Ready to expect the boringness when hot season.
4. Summer time the heat rise up to 50 degrees celcius. Its like a big hair dryer blowing to you.
5. Homesick was common, especially Eidul Fitri and Eidul Adha.

As long as you can face this challenge, then you will find the bright side in your life. Actually there are lots of new things to explore inside and outside your shell. Many were survive and stay, few i found had stayed here more than 10 years, and happy staying here.

For me, right now I was really miss my country, even bad news appeared everyday. I miss the rain, roti canai, teh tarik, jungle, waterfall, everything that I remembered. But this is my journey, sacrifice, exploring until I am enough with it. May be one day this will be my best memories ever. InsyaAllah.

Its Moving Time ...

Actually we had already moved to our new house in Al Khor Community about 3 weeks ago. As usual the moving time is the busiest time, with so many things to be sorted and packed.

Our new house is a little bit smaller in size, but the good thing is its totally new... everything was new, kitchen appliances, air cond and its smell concrete and simen... the community is also nice as we had almost all malaysian in block C206,207 and 208. Our kids seems enjoying playing around with the other malaysian kids.

Its now time for me to set up again everything such as internet, tv, furniture and so on. Doing packing and repacking jobs was very tiring, and after all completed, we were quite satified with the results...

The advantage in living in AKC were :
Children much closer to school, daddy closer to workplace
Community of Malaysian more bigger than before, around 150+ families
Clubhouse, Al Waha, Al Dakhira and Al Nakheel inside the vicinity to enjoy the facilities
Shopping complexes were away to be reach, so save some money... haha

ok thats all for now ... and time for pictures ...

Hakikatnya, apakah niat kita hendak mengerjakan umrah?

Ameeen

MAQ Futsal and Crabbing

As I said before this winter time will be a busy time for us, because so many activities were done in this time especially on the weekends. On Friday 5th, I am competing in Futsal tournament, while my family going to catch crab or we call "crabbing" near the beach.

The Futsal tournament, was a very tiring for me as it starts from 8am till 10pm. I played for 7 games and won 3, draw 3, lost in the semifinal. I'd joined My Mergab team and my body still manage go for all of the 7 games, but the next day my right knee got swelled. Sign of aging is obvious now.

After the game I went straight to Simaisma Beach where Al Haya family with 9 cars were waiting for me. The weather were so cold maybe around 10 degrees and the catches were not so good, the crab are still small. The crab season just starts. After all they just enjoying the picnic and playing around. We went back around 11pm and I admit it was a tiring weekends ever since I was in Qatar.

Qatar - The Blessing Land

From my view, I think Qatar was blessed by Allah.

First, Al Jazeera the world known International Broadcasting Channel was based in Qatar. It function as independent media that report unbiased news especially it represent Islamic country or Arab world.

Second, Yusuf Al Qaradhawi was here, serves at Qatar University. He once was exile by the Egyptian Government and came to Qatar in early 60s.

Third, you can judge it yourself by look at this youtube video:

School Holiday and busy weekend

Its been a long time I was not updating this blog, one of the reason was too busy with program with family, going sealine, outing, pasar malam and few others community program . The other reason was facebook. Now people getting crazy about facebook everyday, every time, almost all the time with mobile technology in hand. I'm also get infected, even my wife and 2 kids ...

There was a lot of things to share, story to tell but a little time to write, so facebook is more convenient. But in blog we still need to maintain because it still the best choice for dairying/journal our lives moment.

Few things that comes to my mind last three weeks, first ... we have choices, we are the one who will made us looks like, we are the one who make ourselves to looks like a dumb or to looks like a clever person. Why did I really matters about what people looked at me? Actually, in my daily working environment, Malaysian people are quiet and don't want any problems occur so they are not interested to create issues. So because of our quietness, most people think that Malaysian are not a good workers.

But actually most Malaysian are highly capable and experience workers, like in RG, most of Malaysian are ex Petronas with experience more than 10 years... so we are better workers than most of the south asian workers. Petronas is a company which developed people, not like most of the Middle East company, they only hired an experienced people and get their expertise to be shared among the locals which are not always happen.

Second thing is we need to always think positively and put aside the negative thought as it will always blocked our progress in life ... betul la kata² Che Mat, always maintain our mental stability ... and from now on I will always look ahead and focus on my development ... insyaAllah.

Third thing was I planned to take my mother and parents in-law to come to Qatar and planned to go Umrah together, so now its time for me to make preparation lahir and batin... terasa diri ini amat kurang ilmu dan amal, kalau di ikutkan perasaan I mau menangis mengalir air mata dok kenangkan kotornya diri ini dari dosa2 silam ... satu pengajaran yang I dapat dari ceramah umrah oleh Ust.

MAQ Sand Dune Trip 2010

Location - inland sea coordinate 24°34'37.73"N 51°21'41.64"E
Total participants - 39 4x4 vehicle
Date Time: 12/2/200 0730-1930

The trip was held on Friday, I was just finished my duty that night and short after arrived at home, me and my family had to prepare and went with 4 other Al Haya family, Chots, Zacks, Abdans and Maleks. We arrived around 0830 at Sealine and continue journey to Khor Al Udaid (Inland Sea) and arrived there around 0930 am. When arrived we had lunch and playing around, on the afternoon we had a Jumaah prayer in the desert.

Sandune are one of the favorite things to do in Qatar, what else to do in desert country. But the inland sea is beautiful with blue turquoise water and white soft sandy beach. Anyway the important thing we are happy.

I also had an experience with my Santa Fe in sand-dune. It can climb fast, maneuvering very well in the sand even though it was not as tough as land cruiser. I will try again next time...

Rezeki Mu

Lets Get Together

This time I would like to share my story of our community in Al Haya and Al Mergab.

Last week we managed to run a scuba introduction class, this week we have table tennis competition and we are planning to make a family day for 3 community, Al Haya, Al Mergab and La Palace. With all the activities running, its look like we will be busy this winter time. For me its not only for fun but the most important is we can get together.

Why it was important of being together? First, because we are all human we cannot live solely in this world, not because we will be die if not do so but being together certainly will make us more up to date with information, we can get help when needed or in case of emergency. We also have many friends to share our happy and sad time. And I think you all have better explanation than me why we must be together.

But to be together is not that easy than we can imagine, first because everybody have their ego (including you and me). We always want to be the best and looks cool to others. Second, we all like to hear gossip and rumours, why? because most of us when we chat, talks with each other these things will spice up the conversation. Then we will laugh together (owh i like that part). but sometimes when we talk we tend to make wrong assumption and perception about others ... and syaitan will do the rest.

Imagine if we all isolate ourselves from each others, than this negative things will grown up, and there will communication block between certain individus because of very different characteristics (tak sebulu orang kata). Then the worst part, you can imagine it, Lifes will become more tensions and dull.

So, that is why togetherness is important, because we can get rid of the negative things, to get to knows each other and together we can make it better. Some says, "tak kenal maka tak cinta".

To my friend out there, who spent energy and times to make people to get together, keep up your good deeds, Allah knows what you are doing and He will compensates you accordingly.

Scuba Class (thanks to Master Diver K'lots and Rudy)
